Youth Academy Soccer

About the Program

Youth Academy is suitable for all players born in the years 2014 (7U) and 2013 (8U).

This program is the bridge and foundation to the EWSC Competitive program. Youth Academy offers a more competitive environment for players to develop their skills and prepare them to play competitive soccer at 9U.

Each week the players will work with trainers who will lead the sessions and develop the players' skills and small group tactics throughout the season.

In the Spring season, players will compete in the EWSC Future Stars Tournament on Mother's Day weekend. The players will compete against the other EWSC Youth Academy teams with referees and experience what it is like to play in a competitive tournament.

All players will need the following for training and game days:
1) Size 3 Soccer Ball
2) Cleats
3) Shin Guards - socks should cover the entire shin guard
4) Water Bottle

Youth Academy Program Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should we register for both the Rec and Academy Programs?
A: No. Please enroll your child in the program you want him/her to participate in. If we get too many enrolled for Academy, we will fill the teams with the first people to register. Last year we were able to place every player on a Academy team who registered for it.

Q: Who finds the professional trainers/coaches?
A: Our Eagan Wave SC Director of Coaching will coordinate the trainers/coaches for the sessions that each Academy player will receive. These trainers/coaches will have experience in training 7U-8U players and will focus on creating a fun environment for the kids to develop their skills and understanding of soccer.

Q: What happens after the fall season?
A: Players can participate in the Youth Academy season again in the Spring and are encouraged to tryout for Competitive in the Summer (at 8U/9U).

Q: Is there an Academy program in both the Fall & Spring?
A: Yes!

Q: As there are no tryouts for Academy, how do you keep the teams balanced?
A: Youth Academy players will all be together for the weekly training session and will be divided up on assigned teams for the weekly games.
