Eagan Wave Soccer Club(EWSC) is proud to have Colleen Carey as a Technical Director since 2006. Ms. Carey's vast amount of coaching and playing experience along with her positive energy and passion for soccer will help elevate and accelerate the development of youth soccer within the community of Eagan, Minnesota.

When the EWSC search committee started their search for a Technical Director, they were impressed with the number of qualified candidates who applied for the position. They firmly believe that Ms. Carey has the coaching expertise, communication skills and leadership qualities to ensure that the Eagan Wave Soccer Club continues to develop as a thriving and vibrant model soccer program. Ms. Carey has a sincere desire to positively impact every player and is an excellent role model to help Eagan's youth gain a true understanding of sportsmanship in competitive sports. Ms. Carey also has a tremendous amount of passion for the game of soccer and has the ability to infuse this passion into players, coaches, and parents within the Eagan community.

Ms. Carey, who currently holds an USSF "B" coaching license, brings with her a training staff of qualified soccer professionals. Many of her team members are also college coaches who have played high level soccer for several years throughout the United States.

Upon signing with EWSC, Colleen wanted club members to know, "the level of commitment in this club is truly impressive and I look forward to being a part of an organization which is so committed to providing the community with a quality soccer experience." Colleen also added that she "can’t wait to start working with the coaches and players who obviously have a great passion for the game of soccer."

Bio

As a High School Senior, Ms. Carey helped the Anoka Tornadoes win the 1990 Minnesota prep soccer championship. Ms. Carey then played college soccer and basketball at St. Benedict before graduating in 1994. She was a three-time All-MIAC selection in both sports and played on college teams that made the NCAA Division III Final Four in each sport.

Ms. Carey started coaching as an assistant college coach at St. Benedict in 1994 and 1995. In 2005 she completed her seventh year as head coach for the University of St. Thomas women’s soccer team. Over the past seven years Colleen was twice named MIAC Coach of the Year (2000 and 2001), and her overall record is 71-34-11 (47-12-5 vs. MIAC foes). In 2001 her St. Thomas team reached the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs, and the 2002 team made it all the way to the NCAA quarterfinals before a shootout loss to eventual champion Ohio Wesleyan. In addition to these accomplishments, Colleen was also among five MIAC women's coaches and 44 women's coaches nationally who were selected to attend an elite summer coaching academy sponsored by the NCAA.
