Tryouts

Tryout Policies

Attendance at all scheduled tryout dates is mandatory for any player wishing to secure a spot on the highest level team.

Players missing tryouts must receive an excused absence or they will not be eligible for placement on the top team in their age group (or mixed age group team). Excused absences are limited to the following:

  • Injury or sickness with a doctor's / clinic note;
  • Death in the family
  • An excused absence may be granted for other reasons with the majority approval of the boys/girls director, president, and vice president. To request an excused absence while tryouts are in progress, a parent or guardian must come to the tryout facility, sign the player in, and request an excused absence from the tryout officials. The only officials that have the authority to grant an excused absence from tryouts are the age group directors, EWSC president, and EWSC vice president. Coaches and team managers have no authority to grant excused absences to any players.
  • **Discretionary excuses including, but not limited to, vacations and reunions will be rejected**

Any absence that is not excused under the aforementioned rules is considered unexcused. A player who misses tryouts without an excused absence will not be eligible for placement on the top team formed for the applicable age group. If too few players exist to complete formation of the highest level team, players with an unexcused absence may be placed on the highest level team in order to complete team formation.

What to Bring

Please bring/wear the following items to Tryouts:

Do NOT bring a soccer ball.  Be sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled Tryout to check in and get warmed up.

Registration / Check-In U9-U11

 

All EWSC players participating in tryouts must complete an online registration prior to the start of tryouts.

All players must be paid in full before tryouts.

 

EWSC Refund Policy

All refund requests must be made via email to the EWSC Registrar within 48 HOURS of the player's team formation. Refund requests made before tryouts will incur a $20 administrative fee while requests made within 48 hours after team formation will incur a $50 administrative fee. After the refund deadline has passed, all fees are non-refundable except for extenuating circumstances as discussed in Section 6.4 of the EWSC Club Bylaws.

Tryout Tips - What are they looking for from players?

This is a brief description of 14 different catagories the evaluators are considering during the tryouts.

Paid Coaches

All Premier and C1 teams should expect to hire a coach that must be approved by the Coach Selection Committee (CSC). The cost will vary based on experience and licensure. Every effort will be made to find a qualified coach before Tryouts.

There are instances where a qualified volunteer is available.  In these cases, the volunteer will also need to be approved by the CSC. 

In addition to the C1 and Premier teams, the following teams may have the need to hire a coach for 2012.
