3/19 TEAM PARENT MEETING- NOTES
Attendees: Daul, Mayland, Reardon, Rottjakob, Schultz, Willis, Zirnhelt, Chris Conroy (thanks for fielding questions!!!)
Unable to Attend: Krawza, Quick, Schwartz
Roster:
Please see the attached roster for our team player and parent contacts. Please review the file and reply with any cell numbers and e-mails you want added. This information will be very helpful when we need to communicate to you quickly due to bad weather, etc.
Team Manager:
A big thanks to Tony Zirnhelt (Joe Zirnhelt's Dad) for volunteering to help manage team tasks during the season. Tony may reach out to other parents for help on specific activities.
Parent Volunteers:
Parents are expected to volunteer their time during the season. Most of us will satisfy the requirement by helping at the 5/11-5/13 Eagan Wave Future Stars Tourney. Each family will need to write out a check for $50 that will be held by the Eagan Wave Treasurer during the season. Your check will be destroyed at the end of the season if your volunteer requirement has been fulfilled. I will provide more details soon.
Assistant Coaches/Team Mgr.
The following parents have expressed interest or have been contacted in one way or another to help assistant coach: Gary Quick, Dave Rottjakob, Donavan Schwartz, Matt Willis.
We are allowed two coaches on the team sideline during games. I would encourage you all to be assistant coaches so you can rotate/participate and so we have enough coverage during games. It is nice to have a couple coaches on the sidelines in case of injuries or to simply reinforce soccer items. I will assume you will all be assistant coaches unless I hear back from you. Each coach must complete a personal background check. Background checks are current from 8/1-7/31. Therefore, if you have completed a background check this past Fall season, then you should be ok. Otherwise, please complete the action below ASAP.
(This takes about 5 minutes online so move on this ASAP)
Use this link: http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/programs/backgroundcheck.cfm. It is recommended that every team have at least 2 adults with a coach pass. If we don't have at least 1 adult with a coach pass at the game you will forfeit the game and pay the fine for the forfeit.

First Game: Week of April 29. Game schedules will be distributed to coaches on 4/14. Approach: I may reschedule our first few games to a later date in the season to take advantage of more team practice time (this is a strategy that many coaches use). There is a two week reschedule period the last half of April. I will provide the initial schedule the weekend of 4/14-4/15 and reschedule updates, as needed.
First Practices: Start week of April 1. Parents agreed to two practices per week throughout April. I am currently working on securing our three Irish Dome indoor practices. I will reply back with April 1 Week options ASAP. We will need to find green space for some of the practices prior to April 14/15 because we cannot use Eagan fields.
Game/Practice Days: Games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. Game and practice schedules will be available by mid-April. The last day of the season is 7/9/12.
Tournaments:
Please see the attached Tourneys.xls file to review the tournament offerings. Teams typically register for 3 tournaments.
Approach:
1. Parents suggested a variety of tourney venues so our team would experience a variety of teams vs. playing the same south metro teams over and over.
2. There are a few players who have schedule conflicts in late June and early July so we tried to schedule our last tourney by mid-June.
3. Parents suggested the following tourneys: 5/11-5/13 Eagan Wave Future Stars Tourney (mandatory per Eagan Wave), 6/1-6/3 Tonka Splash/Minnetonka OR MapleBrook Invitational and 6/15-6/17 Woodbury Summer Classic. 4. Parents would like us to research tourney options quickly and take advantage of early registration fees. Tony Zirnhelt is researching these tourneys and we will have more information for parent feedback soon.
5. Payment Approach: Each parent writes out a $100 check to cover tournaments and expenses. If there are leftover funds, we can apply this to DQ outings and/or an end of season party.
6. Eagan Wave Future Stars Tourney: Each team is required to create a theme gift basket to be auctioned off at the tourney. Please think of ideas and get back to me. I have done my share of gift baskets over the years so I can help drive this.
Team Photo IDs:
All players, coaches and team managers need ID's when participating in soccer events with the boys. We will take player and coach photos during our first practice and then attach them to the issued cards when we receive them.
Equipment:
The boys will be using a size 4 ball this season. We will have some team soccer balls but the boys are encouraged to bring their own to ensure we have enough at practice.
Medical Forms:
Received: Daul, Reardon, Rottjakobs, Schulz, Willis, Zirnhelt
Birth Certificate (no need if you played Eagan Travel in the past):
Received: Rottjakobs
