From Jeff Kline, 8/19/2007
Dear Eagan Traveling Soccer Players, Coaches and Parents;
I am writing you to let you know I am resigning the position of President of
Eagan Traveling Soccer. My resignation is driven by changes in my personal
life that prevent me from participating at the level required to maintain
excellent progress of the ETS program. It has been my honor to work with a dedicated
group of board members to deliver significant improvements to the Eagan Traveling Soccer
players including:
- Hiring a Technical Director to deliver high quality player and coach development.
- Delivery of goal keeper training
- Delivery of off-season soccer training
- Delivery of acceleration training
- Acquiring Irish Sports dome field for early season practice
- Delivery of the Eagan Future Star Tournament
- Delivery of parent survey process
- Delivery Coach interviewing, evaluation and development process
- Referee development through mentoring
- Continued focus on delivery of a fair tryout process
- Multiple changes to the ETS by-laws to improve club operation
I am proud of what the ETS board has done and the ETS program is recognized as a
leader by Minnesota Youth Soccer Association.
The board has accepted my resignation and has elected Curtis Kruse
to serve as President. Curtis has held multiple roles on the board
including Girls U13-U18 Director and Web Director. He has been an
integral part of the program improvements and will keep the ETS
program moving forward. I will continue to support him during this transition.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of you for your support. Eagan
Traveling Soccer is a vibrant program because of the efforts of
volunteers. You all can be very proud of this program.
Kindest regards,
Jeff Kline

2007 BURNSVILLE HOLIDAY BLAST SUCCESS
On December 29, 2006 the Eagan Fire and the Eagan Ice
played in the annual Holiday Blast Tournament at Soccer Blast in Burnsville. Both teams, consisting of mixed groups of
players from the 2007 Eagan U14 C1, U14 C2, U13 C1, and U12C1 Girls teams, played in the Girls U13 / U14 tournament
bracket. The Fire went 3-0 in round robin play to advance to the semi-finals as the #1 seed. The Ice, meanwhile,
went 2-0-1 in the preliminaries to snare the #2 seed in the semi-finals and earn a re-match with Burnsville - a team
the Ice tied 4-4 in the prelims. Both Eagan teams won their respective semi-final matches to create an all-Eagan
championship match. The score in this final game was knotted at 3-3 with 70-seconds remaining when the Fire's J. Britton
broke through with her second goal of the match. Britton's effort was made to hold up by the work of Fire keeper K. Knutson
and the game ended 4-3 for the Fire. Based on the post-game photo of all the Eagan girls together, an outside observer
would have a hard time telling which team won the championship t-shirts. Both sides displayed excellent form and sportsmanship
throughout the day.
2006 Holiday Blast U13/U14 Girls Champions: Eagan Fire
2006 Holiday Blast U13/U14 Girls Runners-Up: Eagan Ice
Congratulations ladies!
The Eagan Wanderers played in the Boys U11/U12 bracket at the annual Holiday Blast Tournament on December 27, 2006.
The team was comprised of 10 players from Eagan Traveling soccer for 2007: Eight U12 boys, one U12 girl, and one
U10 boy rounded out the Wanderers tournament roster. The team went undefeated in round robin play to earn a place
in the championship match later that night. The final game, a re-match between the Wanderers and Savage HB, ended in a
1-1 tie, which meant the teams had to play 5-minutes of Golden Goal extra time. This stretch of play provided numerous
chances for both teams, but ended without a score. An old-fashioned shoot-out ensued. Five attacking players from each
team were given the ball in the center circle and a 5-second countdown to put the ball in the net. After three
scoreless rounds, the Wanderers broke through with scores from both J. Sjoberg and J. Punch. Eagan Wanderers goalkeeper
and "Man of the Match" S. Munoz snuffed out the remaining Savage efforts to help secure the Wanderers' championship. The
Wanderers came together very well for the Holiday Blast: They showed good resilience when the chips were down, gave
100% effort, and conducted themselves very well at all times.
Congratulations Eagan Wanderers!
