The
ETS U15 Boys C2 team finished the regular season in third
place in the South District, captured second place in the
Father Hennepin Tournament in June, and first place in the USA
Cup – “A” Bracket, Medal Flight in July.
Their
USA Cup record was 5 wins, zero losses and 1 tie in the
tournament, recording 5 shutouts and outscoring our opposition
16 to 1.
They beat
the regular season East District Champions and
previously undefeated Sibley Sting 2-1 in overtime to win the
Medal Flight Championship game.

The
Schwan’s USA Cup Soccer Tournament is the largest youth
soccer tournament held in North America with more than 16,000
athletes from 16 countries and 30 states competing during the
week of July 14 – 19 at the National Sports Center in
Blaine, Minnesota.
Eagan Premier entered the tournament as one of 44 teams
at the U15 age level that included teams from Canada, England,
Ireland, Mexico, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota,
Missouri, New Jersey, North Dakota, and Texas. Eagan competed
at the highest competitive level during the tournament (“Cup
Flight”) that included 8 of the top teams entered in the
tournament. During round robin play, Eagan lost its opening
game in a tough match to Ajax Soccer Club from Chicago by a
score of 3 to 2. Eagan came back in the next game to defeat
Blaine Premier by a score of 4 to 2. In the final round robin
game, Eagan faced a team from Milton Keynes, England and came
away with a 3 to 1 victory.
In the quarterfinals, Eagan played RSC Express from New York
and won in sudden death overtime 2 to 1. John Baumgardner
scored the winning goal in overtime for Eagan.
In the semi-finals, Eagan played Cliftonville Soccer Club from
Northern Ireland who had been undefeated in the USA Cup thus
far by outscoring their opponents by an 11 to 1 margin. In the
first half, Ireland scored to go ahead 1 to 0. In the 2nd
half, Eagan came back with goals from Tyler Christiansen and
John Baumgardner to take a 2 to 1 lead. Eagan played
outstanding defense against Ireland to maintain a 2 to 1
victory.
The Cliftonville Soccer Club was formed in Northern
Ireland in 1879.
Ajax from Chicago advanced to the USA Cup championship game
against Eagan with a victory over Rockford United from
Illinois. In the championship game, late in the second half,
Chicago was awarded a penalty shot against Eagan and went up 1
to 0. The final score was Chicago 2 and Eagan 0.
The Eagan U15 team is in its 2nd year at the
premier level in the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA)
that includes only 6 teams in the state. Eagan has won the
premier league championship the past 2 years and has only lost
one league game in the past 3 years.
The
Eagan team is coached by Mike Kennedy and assisted by Jim
Christiansen.

Eagan's U14 Girls Premier team earned the Silver Cup by
advancing to the championship game of the USA Cup
"Cup" flight. This flight included teams from
Newfoundland, Georgia, Washington, Illinois, Nebraska, and
Minnesota. They lost the championship game to Team
Chicago.

The Eagan Wildcats Boys
Premier Team won the NSC Cup held in Blaine at the National
Sports Center from 5/24-5/26/03. The NSC Cup is
the largest soccer tournament held Memorial Day Weekend in the
Midwest. Eagan was one of only two Boys teams from
Minnesota at the Premier/Classic One level to take the Cup in
their respective age group in a field made up of teams U-11
through U-19. Eagan was part of a 14 team bracket
comprised of teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota,
Illinois, and Thunder Bay, Ontario, CA. Their record for
the tournament was 5-0-1 scoring 14 goals and only allowing
two. For winning this tournament, the players names will
be inscribed on the trophy that will be on display at the
National Sports Center through Memorial Day Weekend,

Eagan U11 Boys Gold Win 2003 Dakota Rev Tournament

The
Eagan U11 Boys Gold team won the Dakota Rev Tournament, which
was their first tournament of the year, held on May 16, 17 and
18, 2003. They
dominated play by holding their first three opponents
scoreless and beat an excellent Mankato team for the second
time in the tournament 3-2 to take first place. Goal differential for the tournament was
+15.
